The Little Astronaut
The little astronaut got turned around
Is she right side up or upside down?
(She’s used to being on the ground)
It’s weird in space with no sound.
It’s quiet and it’s nice
But this isn’t her first time in space
(She has already been there twice!)
She likes what it does to her hair
How it stands straight up in the air
And how she finally doesn’t care
What anybody thinks.
She does a little moonwalk
And she’ll bop around on Mars
It’s funny up there all alone
No buses, trains or cars.
No family and no friends,
Just some gigantic floating rocks,
And the little astronaut’s favorite hot pink socks!
She does her standard science tests
Collecting samples here and there
Looking out in the big big universe,
Giving it a stare.
“Hello!!” She says, “Is anyone out there?
I’ve got a cookie, and I’ll share!”
But nothing.
Only silence.
Soon she’ll make the voyage home
On that blue little spec down below
But for now she’ll sit back, relax
And enjoy the big star show.
